Astrid Stuth Cevallos
Astrid Stuth Cevallos joined Dema Law following several years as a Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, where she litigated environmental cases under federal wildlife and marine resource statutes. After entering the Environment and Natural Resources Division through the Attorney General’s Honors Program, she served as lead or co-counsel in administrative law challenges involving the Endangered Species Act and related laws. She personally briefed and argued dispositive motions in federal district courts across the country, as well as an appeal before the Eleventh Circuit.
Astrid began her legal career as a law clerk to the Honorable Norman K. Moon of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia. She also interned with the Federal Public Defender for the same district, where she argued an appeal before the Fourth Circuit.
Before law school, Astrid served as a policy analyst at the RAND Corporation, focusing on U.S.–China relations. Her early academic and professional work in international relations motivated her pursuit of law, driven by a desire to better understand how legal systems can be used to address abuses of power.
Astrid holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was a Karsh-Dillard Scholar and served as Executive Editor of the Virginia Environmental Law Journal. She also earned an M.Phil. in International Relations from the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar and graduated magna cum laude with an A.B. in East Asian Studies from Princeton University.
Outside of work, Astrid enjoys snorkeling, running, knitting, learning new languages, and spending time with her family.
